Description
The issue is related to an integer overflow vulnerability in the
filter16 sobel function within the libavfilter/vf convolution.c component of the FFmpeg multimedia library. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain access to confidential data, compromise data integrity, and cause a denial of service. The vulnerability allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service or other unspecified impacts.Recommendations
For FFmpeg version 4.2.1, consider disabling the
filter16 sobel function in the libavfilter/vf convolution.c component as a temporary workaround to minimize the risk of exploitation. Restrict access to the vulnerable libavfilter/vf convolution.c module to reduce the risk of a denial of service. Avoid using the vulnerable function until a patch is available.
