Description The issue allows remote attackers to conduct absolute directory traversal attacks via a malformed UTF-8 character that is changed to a UTF-8 encoded slash, due to improper checking for leading slashes when extracting files.
Recommendations For versions prior to 1.6, update to version 1.6 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of cabextract to minimize the risk of exploitation.
