CVSS v2.0
2.1
Low
| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Texas Instruments (TI) TM4C, MSP432E and MSP432P microcontroller series (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue in the Texas Instruments (TI) microcontroller series allows single-stepping and using breakpoints in eXecute-Only-Memory (XOM) protected flash memory. This enables executing single instructions with arbitrary system states and observing the resulting state changes. An attacker could exploit this by executing protected instructions with specific system states and observing the changes to reverse-engineer the instructions. The processor can be used as a kind of "instruction oracle" to gather information about unknown instructions.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
