CVE-2018-19166
CVSS v3.1
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Peercoin versions through 0.6.4
Description
The issue allows a remote denial of service, which can be exploited by an attacker who acquires a small amount of stake or coins in the system. The attacker can send invalid headers or blocks, which are then stored on the victim's disk.
Recommendations
For Peercoin versions through 0.6.4, consider restricting the storage of invalid headers or blocks to prevent disk space exhaustion until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, implement measures to limit the impact of invalid data on the system, such as filtering out suspicious transactions or temporarily disabling the processing of new blocks.
Fix
Resource Exhaustion
