CVE-2020-12707

CVSS v3.1

6.1

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions LeptonCMS version 4.5.0
Description A security issue exists due to insufficient protection against cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks in the modules/wysiwyg/save.php file. The current security measure only strips SCRIPT elements, which can be bypassed by using HTML event handlers to execute JavaScript code. This allows a malicious actor to run JavaScript without relying on SCRIPT elements.
Recommendations For LeptonCMS version 4.5.0, consider disabling the save.php file in the modules/wysiwyg directory as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to this file to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using HTML event handlers in this context until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
