Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
CentOS Web Panel version cwp-e17.0.9.8.923
Description
This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. Authentication is not required to exploit this issue. The flaw exists within the
ajax php pecl.php file, specifically when parsing the phpversion parameter. The process does not properly validate a user-supplied string before using it to execute a system call, allowing an attacker to execute code in the context of root.Recommendations
For CentOS Web Panel version cwp-e17.0.9.8.923, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
ajax php pecl.php file or restricting access to it until a patch is available. Avoid using the phpversion parameter in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.Fix
