Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools versions 8.56 through 8.57
Description
The issue is related to inadequate access control in the PIA Core Technology component of PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools. It allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and may significantly impact additional products. This can result in unauthorized update, insert, or delete access to some of PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools accessible data, as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools accessible data.
Recommendations
For versions 8.56 and 8.57, consider restricting access to the PIA Core Technology component to minimize the risk of exploitation until a patch is available.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling any features that rely on HTTP access to sensitive data within PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools.
Restrict user interaction with potentially vulnerable components of PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools to reduce the risk of successful attacks.
