Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Jenkins AppSpider Plugin versions 1.0.12 and earlier
Description
The issue concerns the storage of a password in an unencrypted form in the global configuration file on the Jenkins controller. This password can be viewed by users with access to the Jenkins controller file system. The password is stored in the file
com.rapid7.jenkinspider.PostBuildScan.xml as part of the plugin's configuration.Recommendations
For Jenkins AppSpider Plugin versions 1.0.12 and earlier, update to version 1.0.13 or later to ensure the password is stored encrypted. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Jenkins controller file system to minimize the risk of the unencrypted password being viewed.
