Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
gnuplot version 5.4
Description
The issue is related to the
com line() function in command.c which leads to an out-of-bounds write from strncpy(), potentially resulting in arbitrary code execution.Recommendations
For gnuplot version 5.4, consider disabling the
com line() function in command.c as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the command.c module to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the strncpy() function in sensitive operations until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
