CVE-2020-28046

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions ProlinOS versions through 2.4.161.8859R
Description An issue allows an attacker with local code execution privileges as a normal user (MAINAPP) to escalate to root privileges. This is achieved by exploiting the setuid installation of the xtables-multi binary and leveraging the ip6tables --modprobe switch.
Recommendations For ProlinOS versions through 2.4.161.8859R, consider restricting the use of the xtables-multi binary and the ip6tables --modprobe switch to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, limit the privileges of the MAINAPP user to prevent escalation to root privileges. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
