CVSS v3.1
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
BIG-IP versions 15.1.0 through 15.1.0.5
BIG-IP versions 16.0.0 through 16.0.0.1
Description
The issue occurs when using the RESOLV::lookup command within an iRule and data exceeding the maximum limit of a hostname is passed to it, causing the Traffic Management Microkernel (TMM) to generate a core file and restart.
Recommendations
For BIG-IP versions 15.1.0 through 15.1.0.5, consider disabling the RESOLV::lookup command within iRules until a patch is available.
For BIG-IP versions 16.0.0 through 16.0.0.1, consider disabling the RESOLV::lookup command within iRules until a patch is available.
As a temporary workaround, restrict the amount of data passed to the RESOLV::lookup command to prevent it from exceeding the maximum limit of a hostname.
