Description The issue concerns a privilege escalation flaw. If an attacker can create API keys and authentication tokens, they can perform a series of steps to generate an authentication token with elevated privileges.

Recommendations For Elasticsearch versions 6.7.0 through 6.8.7, update to a version outside of this range to mitigate the risk. For Elasticsearch versions 7.0.0 through 7.6.1, update to a version outside of this range to mitigate the risk. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the ability to create API keys and authentication tokens until a patch is available.
