Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Spamsniper versions 5.0 through 5.2.7
Description
The issue is caused by improper boundary checks when parsing the
MAIL FROM command, leading to a stack-based buffer overflow. This allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code via a crafted packet.Recommendations
For Spamsniper versions 5.0 through 5.2.7, consider restricting access to the
MAIL FROM command until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the vulnerable command to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Memory Corruption
