| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
QEMU versions 4.2.0
libslirp version 4.1.0
Description
The issue is related to a memory management error in the
tcp emu function of the QEMU software, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to access confidential data, compromise data integrity, and cause a denial of service. This can lead to a heap-based buffer overflow or other out-of-bounds access, potentially allowing the execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is demonstrated by IRC DCC commands in EMU IRC.Recommendations
For QEMU version 4.2.0, consider updating to a newer version that addresses the memory management issue in the
tcp emu function.
For libslirp version 4.1.0, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the tcp subr.c module until a patch is available.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.DoS
