VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Foxit Reader version 9.6.0.25114
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. User interaction is required to exploit this issue, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of JPEG files within ConvertToPDF. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in an integer overflow before writing to memory. An attacker can leverage this issue to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Foxit Reader version 9.6.0.25114, consider disabling the ConvertToPDF function, specifically the JPEG parsing component, until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to malicious pages or files to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using ConvertToPDF for JPEG files until the issue is resolved.
