Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Foxit Reader version 9.7.0.29455
Description
This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the processing of JPG2000 images due to the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, resulting in a write past the end of an allocated structure. An attacker can leverage this to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations
For Foxit Reader version 9.7.0.29455, consider updating to a newer version that addresses this issue, as the current version allows for remote code execution due to improper validation of user-supplied data in JPG2000 image processing. As a temporary workaround, avoid opening suspicious files or visiting untrusted websites to minimize the risk of exploitation.
