Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Foxit Studio Photo version 3.6.6.916
Description
This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the handling of TIF files due to the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations
For Foxit Studio Photo version 3.6.6.916, consider avoiding the handling of TIF files until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the use of the TIF file parsing functionality to minimize the risk of exploitation.
