Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Oracle MySQL Server versions 8.0.20 and prior
Description
The issue is related to insufficient access control in the Server: DML component of Oracle MySQL Server, allowing a remote attacker to cause a denial of service using the MySQL protocol. Successful attacks can result in the ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash of MySQL Server.
Recommendations
For versions 8.0.20 and prior, consider restricting network access to the MySQL Server until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, limit the privileges of high-privileged attackers to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
