CVE-2020-0034

CVSS v2.0

7.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Android versions 8.0 through 8.1
Description The issue is related to a possible out of bounds read in the vp8 decode frame function due to improper input validation. This could lead to remote information disclosure if error correction is turned on, with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not required for exploitation. The vulnerability is associated with a buffer overflow in the Media Framework component of the Android operating system, which can allow a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to protected information.
Recommendations For Android versions 8.0 through 8.1, consider disabling the vp8 decode frame function until a patch is available to prevent potential exploitation. Restrict access to the Media Framework component to minimize the risk of information disclosure. Avoid using error correction features in the affected versions until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
