CVE-2020-11647

CVSS v2.0

10

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Wireshark versions 2.6.0 through 2.6.15 Wireshark versions 3.0.0 through 3.0.9 Wireshark versions 3.2.0 through 3.2.2
Description: The BACapp dissector in Wireshark could crash due to excessive recursion. This issue was addressed by limiting the amount of recursion in the epan/dissectors/packet-bacapp.c file. The vulnerability could potentially allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code.
Recommendations: For Wireshark versions 2.6.0 through 2.6.15, update to a version where the recursion limit in the BACapp dissector has been addressed. For Wireshark versions 3.0.0 through 3.0.9, update to a version where the recursion limit in the BACapp dissector has been addressed. For Wireshark versions 3.2.0 through 3.2.2, update to a version where the recursion limit in the BACapp dissector has been addressed. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the BACapp dissector until a patch is available.
