CVE-2020-1245

CVSS v2.0

7.2

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Windows (affected versions not specified)
Description: The issue is related to errors in handling objects in memory by the win32k component of Windows operating systems. This could allow an attacker to elevate their privileges using a specially crafted application. An attacker who successfully exploits this issue could run arbitrary code in kernel mode, enabling them to install programs, view, change, or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights. To exploit this, an attacker would first need to log on to the system and then run a specially crafted application.
Recommendations: To resolve the issue, apply the update that corrects how Win32k handles objects in memory. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to sensitive system resources until the update is applied. Avoid running untrusted applications on affected systems to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
