| Vector | AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:N/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Cisco IOS XE Software for Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers (affected versions not specified)
Description:
The issue is related to insufficient validation of CAPWAP packets in the Control and Provisioning of Wireless Access Points (CAPWAP) protocol processing. An unauthenticated, adjacent attacker could exploit this by sending a malformed CAPWAP packet to an affected device, causing it to crash and reload, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) condition.
Recommendations:
For Cisco IOS XE Software for Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers, update to a version that includes the software updates released by Cisco to address these vulnerabilities.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the CAPWAP protocol to minimize the risk of exploitation.
