CVE-2020-14878

CVSS v3.1

8.0

High

VectorAV:A/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions MySQL Server versions 8.0.21 and prior
Description The issue is related to insufficient input validation in the Server: Security: LDAP Auth component of the MySQL Server. This can be exploited by an attacker to compromise the MySQL Server, potentially leading to a takeover. The vulnerability can be exploited by an attacker with access to the physical communication segment or remotely via the MySQL protocol. Successful attacks can result in the unauthorized ability to cause a hang or crash of the MySQL Server.
Recommendations For versions 8.0.21 and prior, update to a version later than 8.0.21 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the LDAP Auth component until a patch is available. Avoid using the MySQL protocol to minimize the risk of exploitation until the issue is resolved.
