Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Cisco Webex Network Recording Player for Windows versions (affected versions not specified)
Cisco Webex Player for Windows versions (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to insufficient validation of certain elements of a Webex recording stored in the Advanced Recording Format (ARF) or Webex Recording Format (WRF). An attacker could exploit this by sending a malicious ARF or WRF file to a user through a link or email attachment and persuading the user to open the file with the affected software. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected system with the privileges of the targeted user. The vulnerability is also described as a buffer overflow in memory, which could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code.
Recommendations
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the functionality that handles ARF and WRF files until a patch is available.
Restrict access to the affected software to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Avoid opening suspicious links or email attachments that contain ARF or WRF files until the issue is resolved.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
