VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Oracle VM VirtualBox versions prior to 6.1.16
Description: The issue is related to inadequate access control in the Core component of Oracle VM VirtualBox, allowing a highly privileged attacker with login access to the infrastructure where Oracle VM VirtualBox is executed to compromise it. Although the vulnerability is in Oracle VM VirtualBox, successful attacks can significantly impact additional products, potentially resulting in the takeover of Oracle VM VirtualBox.
Recommendations: For versions prior to 6.1.16, update to version 6.1.16 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Core component of Oracle VM VirtualBox to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, ensure that only highly privileged and trusted users have login access to the infrastructure where Oracle VM VirtualBox is executed.
