CVE-2020-15961

CVSS v3.1

9.6

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Google Chrome versions prior to 85.0.4183.121
Description The issue is related to insufficient policy validation in extensions, which could allow an attacker to perform a sandbox escape via a crafted Chrome Extension if a user is convinced to install a malicious extension. This could potentially lead to unauthorized access to confidential data, disruption of data integrity, and denial of service.
Recommendations For versions prior to 85.0.4183.121, update to version 85.0.4183.121 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the installation of extensions to only trusted sources until the update is applied.
