CVE-2020-28926

CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: ReadyMedia (aka MiniDLNA) versions prior to 1.3.0
Description: The issue is related to a lack of size checking for copied data, which can be exploited by sending a malicious UPnP HTTP request to the miniDLNA service using HTTP chunked encoding. This can lead to a signedness bug resulting in a buffer overflow in calls to memcpy/memmove, allowing a remote attacker to execute code, access confidential data, compromise data integrity, and cause a denial of service.
Recommendations: For versions prior to 1.3.0, update to version 1.3.0 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the miniDLNA service to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using HTTP chunked encoding in UPnP HTTP requests to the miniDLNA service until the issue is resolved.
