CVE-2020-28023

CVSS v3.1

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Exim versions prior to 4.94.2
Description The issue is related to an out-of-bounds read in the smtp setup msg function of the Exim mail transfer agent. This can potentially disclose sensitive information from process memory to an unauthenticated SMTP client. An attacker could exploit this by sending a specially crafted message to the system, allowing them to access confidential information remotely.
Recommendations For Exim versions prior to 4.94.2, update to version 4.94.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the smtp setup msg function until a patch is available.
