CVE-2020-24394

CVSS v3.1

7.1

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 5.7.8
Description The issue is related to insufficient permission assignment checks for a critical resource in the fs/nfsd/vfs.c component of the Linux kernel. This can allow an attacker to gain unauthorized access to protected information. The problem arises because the current umask is not considered when setting permissions on new filesystem objects, particularly when the filesystem lacks ACL support.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 5.7.8, update to version 5.7.8 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the fs/nfsd/vfs.c component until a patch is available. Additionally, ensure that filesystems have ACL support enabled to minimize the risk of exploitation.
