CVE-2020-25085

CVSS v3.1

5.0

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions QEMU version 5.0.0
Description The issue is related to a heap-based buffer overflow in the flatview read continue function in exec.c due to improper handling of a write operation in the SDHC BLKSIZE case by hw/sd/sdhci.c. This can potentially allow an attacker to access confidential data, compromise data integrity, and cause a denial of service.
Recommendations For QEMU version 5.0.0, consider disabling the flatview read continue function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the hw/sd/sdhci.c module to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the SDHC BLKSIZE case in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
