Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
F2fs-Tools version 1.13
Description
The issue is related to a heap buffer overflow that can be triggered by a specially crafted f2fs filesystem, potentially allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary code. This can be achieved by providing a malicious file that exploits the
fsck chk orphan node functionality.Recommendations
For F2fs-Tools version 1.13, consider restricting access to the
fsck chk orphan node functionality until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using specially crafted f2fs filesystems that may trigger the heap buffer overflow. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
