Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
libgig versions through 20200507
Description
The issue is related to a heap-buffer-overflow in the
RIFF::List::GetSubList function located in RIFF.cpp. This allows an attacker to cause code execution. The vulnerability can be exploited by a remote attacker to access confidential data, compromise data integrity, and cause a denial of service.Recommendations
For libgig versions through 20200507, consider disabling the
RIFF::List::GetSubList function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the RIFF.cpp component to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
