Description:
The issue allows remote denial of service via a flood of multiple transaction inv messages with random hashes. This can also affect other cryptocurrencies that were forked from Bitcoin Core after 2017-11-15.
Recommendations:
For Bitcoin Core versions 0.16.0 through 0.16.1, update to version 0.16.2 or later to resolve the issue.
For Bitcoin Knots versions 0.16.0 through 0.16.1, update to version 0.16.2 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the peer-to-peer network code to minimize the risk of exploitation.
