| Vector | AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
NXP KW41Z versions 2.2.1 and earlier
Description
The Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) stack implementation does not properly restrict the BLE Link Layer header, allowing attackers within radio range to cause issues by sending a crafted BLE Link Layer frame with a Link Layer ID (LLID) equal to zero. This can lead to deadlocks, anomalous behavior in the BLE state machine, or trigger a buffer overflow.
Recommendations
For NXP KW41Z versions 2.2.1 and earlier, consider disabling the BLE functionality until a patch is available to prevent potential exploitation. Restrict access to the BLE Link Layer to minimize the risk of receiving crafted frames. Avoid using the
LLID variable in the BLE Link Layer header until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Buffer Overflow
