Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Asus Aura Sync versions through 1.07.71
Description
The issue arises from improper input validation to IOCTL 0x80102044, 0x80102050, and 0x80102054 in Ene.sys, part of Asus Aura Sync. This allows local users to potentially cause a denial of service, resulting in a system crash, or gain privileges by sending IOCTL requests with crafted kernel addresses that trigger memory corruption.
Recommendations
For versions through 1.07.71, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the vulnerable IOCTL endpoints until a patch is available. Avoid using crafted kernel addresses in IOCTL requests to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
