CVE-2020-27869

CVSS v2.0

9.0

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor versions 2020 HF1, 2020.2
Description: This issue allows remote attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations. Authentication is required to exploit this issue. The specific flaw exists within the WriteToFile method, resulting from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to construct SQL queries. An attacker can leverage this issue to escalate privileges and reset the password for the Admin user.
Recommendations: For SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor versions 2020 HF1, 2020.2, consider disabling the WriteToFile method until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to the SQL queries to minimize the risk of privilege escalation. Avoid using user-supplied strings in SQL queries until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
