CVE-2020-36157
CVSS v3.1
10
Critical
| Vector | AC:L/AV:N/A:H/C:H/I:H/PR:N/S:C/UI:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Ultimate Member plugin versions prior to 2.1.12
Description:
The issue is related to unauthenticated privilege escalation via user roles. It occurs due to the lack of filtering on the
role parameter that can be supplied during the registration process. An attacker could supply the role parameter with a WordPress capability or any custom Ultimate Member role and effectively be granted those privileges.Recommendations:
For Ultimate Member plugin versions prior to 2.1.12, update to version 2.1.12 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the registration process to prevent exploitation.
