CVSS v3.1
4.8
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
wpDiscuz WordPress plugin versions 7.3.0 and earlier
Description:
The issue is related to the improper sanitization or escaping of the Follow and Unfollow messages in the wpDiscuz WordPress plugin, which could allow high privilege users to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks even when the unfiltered html capability is disallowed.
Recommendations:
For wpDiscuz WordPress plugin versions 7.3.0 and earlier, update to a version later than 7.3.0 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the capability to post Follow and Unfollow messages to trusted users only until a patch is available.
