Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Oracle VM VirtualBox versions prior to 6.1.18
Description:
A vulnerability in Oracle VM VirtualBox allows a low-privileged attacker with logon to the infrastructure where Oracle VM VirtualBox executes to compromise Oracle VM VirtualBox. Although the vulnerability is in Oracle VM VirtualBox, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle VM VirtualBox accessible data. The issue is due to insufficient input validation in the Core component.
Recommendations:
For versions prior to 6.1.18, update to version 6.1.18 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Core component to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using Oracle VM VirtualBox with low-privileged attackers having logon to the infrastructure until the issue is resolved.
