| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
PyBitmessage versions 0.6.3.2 and earlier
Description:
The issue allows attackers to write screen captures to potentially unwanted directories via a crafted
apinotifypath value. It is noted that security mitigation may not be necessary as there is no evidence yet that these screen intercepts are actually transported away from the local host. Additionally, it is unclear whether there are any common use cases in which apinotifypath is controlled by an attacker.Recommendations:
For PyBitmessage versions 0.6.3.2 and earlier, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the
apinotifypath value to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.Exploit
