Description
This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. Authentication is not required to exploit this issue. The flaw exists within the MFileUploadController class due to the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this issue to execute code in the context of SYSTEM.
Recommendations
For NETGEAR ProSAFE Network Management System version 1.6.0.26, consider disabling the MFileUploadController class until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to file operations to minimize the risk of arbitrary code execution. Avoid using user-supplied paths in file operations until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
