CVE-2021-28927

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: libretro RetroArch for Windows version 1.9.0
Description: The issue allows attackers with write access to filesystems used by the software to execute code via command injection. This is achieved by passing unsanitized input to PowerShell through the accessibility speak windows function in platform win32.c, using specially crafted file and directory names.
Recommendations: For libretro RetroArch for Windows version 1.9.0, consider disabling the accessibility speak windows function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to filesystems used by RetroArch to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using specially crafted file and directory names in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
