CVE-2021-31473

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Foxit Reader version 10.1.3.37598
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the browseForDoc function, resulting from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data. This can lead to a write past the end of an allocated data structure, allowing an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Foxit Reader version 10.1.3.37598, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the browseForDoc function until a patch is available. Restrict access to potentially malicious files and web pages to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
