CVSS v3.1

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions OpenText Brava! Desktop version 16.6.3.84
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the parsing of DWF files due to the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations For OpenText Brava! Desktop version 16.6.3.84, consider disabling the DWF file parsing functionality until a patch is available. Restrict access to malicious pages or files to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the affected software to open or parse DWF files from untrusted sources until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
