Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the parsing of CGM files due to the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, resulting in a write past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker can leverage this to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations For OpenText Brava! Desktop version 16.6.4.55, consider disabling the CGM file parsing functionality until a patch is available. Restrict access to CGM files to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid opening malicious files or visiting malicious pages to prevent the vulnerability from being exploited. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
