Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Bentley View version 10.15.0.75
Description:
This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the parsing of DGN files due to the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations:
For Bentley View version 10.15.0.75, update to a version that fixes the heap-based buffer overflow issue in DGN file parsing to prevent remote code execution. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the opening of DGN files from untrusted sources to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Fix
Heap Based Buffer Overflow
Memory Corruption
