CVE-2021-39872

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: GitLab CE/EE versions 14.1 and later
Description: An improper access control issue allows users with expired passwords to continue accessing GitLab through git and API endpoints, such as "/api/v1/login", using access tokens acquired before password expiration. This affects users who obtained access tokens prior to their password expiring.
Recommendations: For GitLab CE/EE versions 14.1 and later, consider revoking and re-issuing access tokens for users with expired passwords as a temporary workaround. Restrict access to API endpoints, such as "/api/v1/login", to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
