Description
The issue is related to insufficient input validation in the Installation component of the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance Kit. It allows a highly privileged attacker with logon access to the infrastructure to compromise the system. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and can result in unauthorized update, insert, or delete access to some of the accessible data.
Recommendations
For Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance Kit version 8.8, consider restricting access to the Installation component to minimize the risk of exploitation until a patch is available. Additionally, ensure that all users with access to the system are aware of the potential for social engineering attacks that may be used to exploit this issue. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
