CVE-2021-2301
CVSS v2.0
4.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:P/I:N/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Oracle MySQL Server versions 8.0.23 and prior
Description
The issue is related to insufficient input validation in the Server: Information Schema component of Oracle MySQL Server. This allows a high-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise the MySQL Server, resulting in unauthorized read access to a subset of MySQL Server accessible data. Successful attacks can also cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server.
Recommendations
For Oracle MySQL Server versions 8.0.23 and prior, update to a version later than 8.0.23 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting network access to the MySQL Server to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, restrict access to the Server: Information Schema component to prevent unauthorized data access.
