Description
A vulnerability in the JNDI Realm of Apache Tomcat allows an attacker to authenticate using variations of a valid user name and/or to bypass some of the protection provided by the LockOut Realm. This issue is related to weaknesses in the authentication mechanism, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to protected information.
Recommendations
For Apache Tomcat versions 8.5.0 through 8.5.65, update to a version outside of this range to resolve the issue.
For Apache Tomcat versions 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.45, update to a version outside of this range to resolve the issue.
For Apache Tomcat versions 10.0.0-M1 through 10.0.5, update to a version outside of this range to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the JNDI Realm until a patch is available.
