CVE-2021-30640

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:H/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Apache Tomcat versions 8.5.0 through 8.5.65 Apache Tomcat versions 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.45 Apache Tomcat versions 10.0.0-M1 through 10.0.5
Description A vulnerability in the JNDI Realm of Apache Tomcat allows an attacker to authenticate using variations of a valid user name and/or to bypass some of the protection provided by the LockOut Realm. This issue is related to weaknesses in the authentication mechanism, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to protected information.
Recommendations For Apache Tomcat versions 8.5.0 through 8.5.65, update to a version outside of this range to resolve the issue. For Apache Tomcat versions 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.45, update to a version outside of this range to resolve the issue. For Apache Tomcat versions 10.0.0-M1 through 10.0.5, update to a version outside of this range to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the JNDI Realm until a patch is available.
